Boston’s newest music venue, Roadrunner, set to open Tuesday

Boston’s newest music venue is scheduled to open Tuesday in the city’s Brighton neighborhood.Roadrunner took over five years and $20 million to build, and is the biggest music venue of its kind in New England, according to the owners.The venue is located on Guest Street, adjacent to The TRACK at New Balance sports complex and part of the Boston Landing development.Roadrunner features a 60-foot stage and has a capacity of 3,500 people.The venue was supposed to have its grand opening last year, but it was delayed by the COVID-19 pandemic.Billy Strings, a Grammy Award-winning guitarist and bluegrass musician, is scheduled to play Tuesday’s inaugural show. The doors open at 6:30 p.m. and Billy Strings is set to play at 8:30 p.m.Roadrunner’s website states $25 from each ticket purchased for the Billy Strings show will go to The Shout Syndicate — a Boston-based, volunteer-run fundraising effort for youth-led arts programs at proven nonprofit creative youth development organizations in the Greater Boston area.The Shout Syndicate, which is housed at The Boston Foundation, works in partnership with the Mayor’s Office of Arts & Culture’s creative plan called Boston Creates.
